Jakarta – The first Port Academy 2020 has successfully been organized.

On the first day, the participants were introduced to the concept and management aspect of a port by the expert from Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investments and Indonesia Port Corporations (Pelabuhan Indonesia II), then Boskalis and Van Oord shared their expertise in dredging and how they applied it when constructing a port, followed by the awaited field trip to New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1).

On the second day, the participants visited Indonesia Maritime Museum to learn more about the history of ports across Indonesia and afterwards were mentored by our experts to hatch their ideas for the eco-smart port concepts they had in mind. Then, off to a fun time learning to be the stakeholders in developing a port through a game where each team got a chance to be government, business owner, local community, and port authority.

On the third day, the participants were ready to deliver their masterpiece and presented it to experts. During the presentation, Minister Corona and her delegations came to visit Port Academy 2020 and caught our participants in the action. She mentioned the importance of the young generation to take the lead as #YoungMaritimeLeaders in the future.

Each idea the participants presented was an interesting idea with many possibilities to explore. We truly hope to one day see those ideas come to a realization.
