A presentation on the economic consequences of various adaptation and mitigation measures, with practical examples from New York and the Netherlands

As part of a QUT collaboration of Professor Clevo Wilson, a visit from Dr Hans de Moel at the Institute for Environmental Studies from the VU University Amsterdam was arranged on Wednesday 9 August 2017.

Hans was happy to share various projects that he has undertaken – where the focus is on the economic consequences of various adaptation and mitigation measures.Examples on New York – post Hurricane Sandy were shared as well as the indirect impact consequences of floods in Europe.

Hans also then took us on tour of the flood risk challenges for the Netherlands and how a City such as Rotterdam has developed a mix of adaptation and mitigation strategies.
