Thaketa Climate Adaptation Project
The pilot project takes places in Ward 5 of Thaketa, a township in the city of Yangon. Yangon is a major city in the Ayeyarwady Delta, one of the most vulnerable cities to climate change in South-East Asia, suffering from severe water scarcity and flooding. Within Yangon, the township of Thaketa is among the worst affected. In that sense, our project will proof itself in one of the most challenging environments – but for the same reason, if proven successful, could also offer the most potential to scale and benefit millions of people across Yangon who also suffer from water scarcity and flooding.
