UNESCO Water Resilience Challenge 2024 at the 10th World Water Forum!

With their exceptional performance, the three winning teams of the UNESCO Water Resilience Challenge 2024: Road to Bali earned the opportunity to attend the 10th World Water Forum, held in Bali from May 19 to 23, 2024. These teams, comprising 11 youths from Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia, showcased their project solutions to global water professionals, delegates, and important stakeholders.

As part of the UNESCO team at the forum, Team AquaCleanse Cambodia, Make Water OK, and Tim Banyu actively engaged with various visitors at the UNESCO Pavilion, promoting their innovative projects. Their prototype solutions were also featured at the booth, complementing their presence and enhancing the interactive experience for attendees. In addition to showcasing their work, the three winning teams had the opportunity to also present their journey to a larger audience during one of the Youth Pavilion’s sessions, expanding their project impacts.

To further amplify the reach of all participating teams, not just those attending the event, the results of the other teams’ projects were displayed visually at both the UNESCO and Youth Pavilions through e-posters. These digital displays allowed visitors to explore and dive deeper into the various works of all the teams involved, offering an inclusive representation of the program’s collective achievements.

Moreover, the youths’ diligent efforts and dedication to bringing their projects to fruition earned them the prestigious opportunity to engage with leading figures at the World Water Forum. This included interactions with high-level government representatives from their respective countries, Indonesian Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Bapak Basuki Hadimuljono, and the President of the World Water Council, Loïc Fauchon.

The World Water Forum has provided the teams a unique opportunity to gain global exposure to key water issues, while networking with organisations and youth representatives from other countries. Attending various sessions in the forum also deepened their understanding of the water sector, fostering both knowledge sharing and valuable connections. This experience not only strengthened their professional networks but also enriched their personal growth through meaningful interactions and friendships.

With the conclusion of the UNESCO Water Resilience Challenge 2024: Road to Bali, we are delighted to say that the program has been filled with memorable experiences, invaluable learning, and a shared commitment to addressing pressing water challenges. We extend our sincerest gratitude to UNESCO, our partners, the experts, and all participants for their contributions to this program.
